Kinja'd!!!

Last week, my Mustang’s HVAC decided that it wanted to send air ONLY through the windshield vents, no matter the setting. What could it be?

Pleasebeavacuumleak pleasebeavacuumleak pleasebeavacuumleak.

Kinja'd!!!

Bingo!

Now, just gotta take the broken piece out of the adapter...

Kinja'd!!!

Pop!

And slide it back together (fortunately the line is still long enough to reach)...

Kinja'd!!!

Good as new!

I made a 1998 Avalon work by stomping on the engine.

This morning my right-front headlight high beam died JUST as I was leaving in the dark at 6:30am.....when I got home, I changed it back to the OEM one (it was a brighter Sylvania SilverStar). Now my high beams work again! :O

....too simple?

The dash lights went out on my buddies 4Runner like last winter and he was complaining about it on the way to dinner so I punched his dashboard and now they work again!

Friend of mine has a ratty E30 325e as a beater. It runs a little warmer than center normally(he knows it’s not good but he thinks the p/o put in the wrong water pump and he’s planning to engine swap it soon anyway) but the temp gauge bounces up sometimes and sticks there. If it’s “overheating” smacking the dash a few times never fails to fix it.

The first time I drove it he wasn’t in the car with me. He told me it would run warm and not to sweat it but failed to mention the gauge issue. A few minutes into my drive(to buy beer for us and some friends, he was busy and not 21 quite yet) I glance down and the gauge is pegged in the red. I was in heavy traffic with nowhere to pull off so I call him in a slight panic that I just ruined his car as I’m trying to force my way to a nearby parking lot. He just laughs and says to smack the dash a few times.

One of the speakers in my MJ (driver’s door) had been intermittent since I bought it. I’d hit the right bump and it would come on, and then a few days later I’d hit the wrong bump and it would die. Never really cared enough to do anything about it, half the time I’d rather hear the engine.

Fast forward to prepping the Lada for the LeMons Rally this summer (spoiler, it didn’t make it... and is still not fit to be driven) and part of that was putting in a stereo. I’d picked up a used CD player with USB input (and bluetooth handsfree that doesn’t work cause the MJ’s too loud) and a stack of old XJ speakers from the stash, but I hadn’t got around to that yet, so the day before I left in the MJ I put the head unit into the MJ, so I’d have handsfree and USB on the way down. While I was in there, I figured “while I’m at it”, knowing that I’d never find the broken wire, I pulled the door panel off, looked at the speaker and went “oh”. One of the wires inside the speaker was unsoldered. Pop the speaker out, grab a matching one from the stack, plug it in, works a treat.

Another story: Also on the Rally, I was a day in and getting tired of my sister (my codriver) complaining about the floor vents dumping water every time we went around a corner. It’s done this for the entire four years I’ve owned it. I was even warned about it on the test drive. I didn’t much care. But anyhow, she wasn’t happy at all, so I hit the googles to find out where the A/C drain tube was. Found it, popped it off, and what looked like five gallons (maybe not that much but at least two quarts) of water came pouring out of the heater box. I shoved a screwdriver through the drain tube, blew it out, and put it back on. No more water coming out of the floor vents, and it took me all of five minutes... Wishing I’d done that four years ago!

For some reason, the radio in my V70R died completely. I checked the fuses. They were all fine. The unit itself just wasn’t getting any power. Frustrated, I slammed the car door (with it still running because I was going inside to get my laptop to Google things) when suddenly it came to life full volume. Never acted up again.

When it’s extremely cold my temp gauge will sometimes immediately peg itself right after the car has been started. Turning it off and back on again (for once) fixes the problem.

If you had posted that question on here could’ve identified it immediately, it’s happened to me twice lol

I was 99% certain that it was gonna be just a vacuum leak, and had my fingers crossed that it wouldn’t be behind the dashboard. I got lucky this time.

Yeah I currently have an issue with the A/C not working, and it’s been over a year since I bothered with it because it wasn’t as simple a fix as this one was lol

Well, I just changed the front brake pads on the Roadmaster. Something I’ve never done. It went completely as planned, I just did what the Chilton’s manual I bought from the library for $3 said to do. I’ll be damned if it didn’t work. Not exactly what you were looking for, but I’ll take it!

Sometimes my LS400s speedo just stops working...a good whack to the top of the dash usually fixes it though.
